Oprah recently featured kai body butter & kai body buffer on her "oprah's favorite things" show about her favorite gifts to get and give in 2007. From the Oprah show:
"Bathing is an art form and nobody enjoys it more than I do," Oprah says. Kai customized their signature scent into a moisturizing body butter in a tub just for Oprah. "It's clean and fresh," she says. She also loves the Body Buffer by Kai, which combines an exfoliating loofah and cleansing soap all in one. Just wet and squeeze to release foaming bubbles that smell like an exotic garden.
Gaye Straza Rappaport spent her youth vacationing in Hawaii, and always wanted to capture the island's fragrance. Years later, after opening the first exclusively upscale women's boutique in Malibu, California, she developed the kai fragrance and sold it at her boutique.
When Rappaport sold the boutique in 1999, there was so much demand for the fragrance that she decided to continue the fragrance line as a separate company, and so began kai.
Today, kai is sold at exclusive boutiques and spas all over the world, such as Island Trends with many devotees from everyday people to the celebrity world, including Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Naomi Watts and others.
